I’m a 25 year old, self-taught aspiring photographer from Iowa…with an adventurous spirit, and a passion for exploring the world & exposing the immense beauty it has to offer. Since the moment I first picked up a camera, I’ve been intrigued by its ability to freeze a moment in time, forever. I can think of no other man-made tool that produces such a powerful and lasting effect.
In October 2009, nearly four years since I studied abroad in Tasmania, Australia – an experience that ignited my passion for photography & opened my eyes to our world of unimaginable beauty – I decided to leave a successful sales career in Corporate America, invest in pro camera equipment, and move to Sydney, Australia to focus on my passion for photography full-time (and learn how to sail).
I realize that the only thing any of us truly have is today – right here, right now, this moment. Nothing else is promised. I have a unique outlook on life and the way it should be lived – and I feel as though it is reflected through my work. If nothing else, I hope to inspire my friends, family, and fans by offering a fresh reminder of how beautiful our planet really is – and that finding what truly makes you happy is something worth taking a risk for.
UPDATE JULY 2010:
So much for dodging my responsibilities – I’m currently managing a camera store & print shop in the Northern Beaches of Sydney (Kodak Express Digital Solutions in Balgowlah) While I may be stuck here 5 days a week, it does provide me with access a range of new cameras & accessories, and some seriously sweet printers. Not that retail management is my calling, but I will admit that it’s helped me continue to focus on expanding my knowledge of the photographic industry.
LANDED MY DREAM JOB: Part of the reason I moved to Australia to begin with, I’ve teamed up with an Aussie-based Tourism Agency (Tourism Media) and will be heading to the FIJI ISLANDS in August 2010 for TWO WEEKS on my first official freelance gig!
