Crane Lake, Minnesota – A Celebration

Posted on: 07.22.09

With my much-delayed return to my favorite place on earth – Crane Lake MN – less than 2 days away, I thought I’d celebrate by posting a few of my favorite shots. I’ve been visiting Crane Lake every summer since I was about 8 years old…and it’s just as amazing every year. Can’t wait!!

“Golden Sunrise in Crane Lake”
I took these two pictures on my first EVER digital camera, a 5MP Olympus, back in 2005. They were some of the first few shots that inspired me to pursue my [at that time] newfound interest in photography.

The Cabin
My grandparent’s restored indian cabin. June and Fred Huting are in their 80′s, yet still manage to escape to this rustic cabin with no running water, electicity, or even roads for months at a time. They are amazing.
Can’t wait for some blueberry pancakes and a morning game of Rummy!

The Huting Boysbrothers! Matt, Jeff & Me
(to this day I’ve never worn purple again, I swear.)

Vermilion River Falls Taken on my old Rebel XTi back in 2007.
(Two days after it took a swim here…Canons are tough!)

Sunset in Crane Lake
Took this on a borrowed Nikon D60 back in 2006. It’s the amazing sunset view from Government Bay, the best campsite on the lake, by far.

And lastly…

The Crane Lake Crew (taken in 2006)
CHEERS TO CRANE LAKE 2009!

be back in August!

And one of my favorite inspirational quotes to end:

“Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.”
-Norman Vincent Peale
